The concept of driving by subscription it still largely unknown. In order to get people familiar with it, we will provide 12 people in Schouwen-Duiveland the opportunity to experience it. For 5 days we will pick them up within 10 minutes and bring them to their destination on the island. This demo is planned and executed with the support of the municipality and the province of Zeeland. The province runs a project to test drive the feasibility of autonomous transportation. BEMUP is using safety drivers for the demo and the subsequent start project on the island in May 2024, but the concept is designed for autonomous vehicles and will deploy those once available.
This will bring high quality, point-to-point transportation to Schouwen-Duiveland for a fair price – at least below the cost of driving your own dedicated car. The project team is led by Ron de Bruijn (Zeeland), Erc Caspers (Schouwen-Duiveland), Rob Koppejan (RKI) and Frank Kroon (BEMUP). Tesla provides the vehicles for this demo.
